Amund Grøndahl Jansen, Norwegian cyclist joined up with the joining LottoNL-Jumbo team, which thus makes him one of the top talents in the UCI WorldTourto make his debut
The Norwegian cyclist who was born in 1994 has in the last few years, made a big impression. Some of his victories in the 2016 season include overall victories in the Tour de Girondeand the ZLM Roompot Tour.
In 2013 with the Team Plussbank, Jansen made his U23 debut. In 2015 however, he moved to Team Joker. And with the curtains drawn on his time as a youth rider, he is now ready to compete at the highest level.
Jansen who spoke during their teams training camp felt that he also possesses such characteristics typical of Norwegians, as he can do classics and equally sprint as well.
When asked if there were any currently successful rider whom he can compare his style of riding too, he mentioned some Norwegians in the sport.
He said: “That’s a difficult one. Maybe a lot of the Norwegians share the same characteristics.
“Perhaps I’m a little bit like Thor (Hushovd) or Alexander (Kristoff). Edvald (Boasson Hagen) can do everything, even climb.
“I’m not exactly like him but I think I have the typical Norwegian characteristics. I can sprint and I can do classics.”
He is of the notion that Norwegians do not typically have much of a cycling history and that’s why he always looks to successful Norwegians to confirm the possibility of being a very good cyclist as a Norwegian.
He made it known that in his childhood days, he always watched Thor Hushovd on TV, which thus gave him the necessary exposure in the sport, generated his interest in it, and has seen him participate competitively so far.
